Rush hour can be fun - thelondonpaper

2nd October, 2008

So you think its easy distributing free newspapers? Think again! thelondonpaper.com launches RushHour next week to test your method as you become responsible for the location of three of thelondonpaper distributors. This involves moving them daily and anticipating obstacles to be able to maximise your daily distribution. RushHour was designed and built by online agency Underwired.

"thelondonpaper has a strong presence on the streets of London and is already one of its most visible brands, especially during rush hour", said Jason Holland, Underwired's creative director. "The brief was to create a game that raised awareness of the paper's website and brought in new users via the game. It's a simple game format that we believe will be fun and engaging - like the newspaper!"

The game is free-to-play and users have the simple daily task of placing a distributor, symbolised by an orange figure, in a position on the map where they think most people will travel past. The game's computer sets off a series of random processes that send people into the mapped area. Special negative and positive factors change each day such as buskers, film premieres and road works. These factors affect the route that people may or may not take.

Top prizes include a champagne helicopter flight over London and an overnight stay at Le Manor, as well as weekly VUE cinema passes.

The game opens for registration on Monday 29 September, starts on the 6th October and runs through until late December.
